I kept my sideburns.  They are just to the bottom of my ear.  I got some callbacks from great firms even with them.  I expect to get more as well.  I would leave them as long as they are tasteful.

OP, dont feel bad, I had a friend with a full beard and long hair (looked like a beatle during their druggy days) he had to shave it all for OCI.
