Salaries for Major Non-profits/Advocacy Organizations???
« on: August 03, 2007, 10:46:01 AM »
Does anyone have an idea of what the starting salary would be for a major non-profit or advocacy organization, i.e. Human Rights Watch, Amnesty International, American Red Cross, ACLU, to name some.
Is there a list similar to the list for the BigLaw firms?

No list that I know of.  I do know that these jobs (for national non profits) are very competitive.  You can expect salaries in the low 40's max.

Well, I work for a major non-profit and granted it's not a specifically legal one.  I don't even have a JD yet and I was getting 55.  I think attorneys that we hire start out at $60k without any work experience.  It really depends on where you land and your skillset and the city that you live.  This org is in SF, whereas I have a good friend who's 2nd in charge at an immigration legal org in Austin and she's topped out at $40k.
