Do Law Firms Drug Test?
« on: April 10, 2007, 01:45:38 PM »
i went to a party last week where some rastas were smoking marijuana. i think i might have accidentally inhaled some second-hand smoke. is this going to jeopardize my summer biglaw job? did any 2Ls or 3Ls who worked in an AmLaw100 last summer get drug tested? if they don't test summer associates, do they generally test new full-time associates--just in case something like this accidentally happens again after i take the bar?

I've worked at 2 small and 2 medium sized firms and none of them drugtested.  I cannot speak for BIGLAW.  I would be suprised if they did.

why would you be surprised? aren't they just like any large company? don't most large companies drug test their employees?

If you're that worried about it, just stop smoking pot so that your bloodstream has time to clear out thet THC. Ultimately though, I think you are just being a normal paranoid stoner and nobody's going to drug test you.

Drug testing does not make economic sense - that's why only the government does it.

All of the larger companies I worked for required it, but my government positions didn't.

I am working at a BIGLAW firm this summer and I was required to do a drug test.
