Landman or lawyer at oil and gas firm question

does anyone know how much u should make as an intern and then a new employee as a landman working for an oil and gas company?  I am thinking about putting my focus their for a job this summer and am just curious to how it compares to law firm pay.

I met with the career service guy and he said that because i was a petroleum supply specialist in iraq and i have my undergrad degree in business that he was pretty sure id be able to land a job this summer with an oil company. We shall see how that goes.

Do u know what your going to try and do this summer?

i'm going to take my chances with all the firms doing OCIs. if nothing comes of that, i'll beg for work elsewhere.

i worked as a landman at an energy company for a short while before heading to law school.  i was mostly dealing with natural gas.  i was making about 60k a year doing that and opportunities for advancement were not likely for a few years.  i'm not sure if oil companies operate differently but thats where i was at with the job.
the job itself was enjoyable in some respects.  the best part of it was being able to out of the office a majority of the time.  the downside was i was mostly trooping through some pretty crap parts of western pa and west virginia.

I interned with the land department of an energy company last summer and was offered $67,000 with an additional $15,000 bonus for full time after finishing my undergrad (Energy Management).  Decided to apply to law school instead, but I'd recommend landwork, it was a great internship and companies are in the hiring mode now.

i appreciate the advice. do either of u know if u make more money with a law degree than if u just have an undergrad degree. It would suck to know that i went to law school and took out 60k in debt to get a job i could have already gotten. At the same time 82000 a year not having to do legal research and writing all the time will prob make up for it.
