Odds at Firm job
« on: January 17, 2007, 08:49:27 PM »
I go to a Top 25 schools, and I just got my grades, all 4.0.  I would like to make as much money as possible this summer to help pay for school.  But even with these grades am not sure how likely it is to get a Summer Associate position as a 1L. I don't want to spend too much time searching for a job if it is a longshot, since the reason I got these grades is because I worked my ass off last semester.  Any thoughts?

With a straight 4.0 I would expect that you could somewhat easily nail a job through Spring OCI (if your campus has it) as long as you don't have 3 heads.

I would say you will be able to get a firm job, but 1L firm job with a top firm would be rare.

If you haven't already, sent your resumes out immediately. A lot of firms are already finishing their hiring for 1L's this month. With grades like that, you absolutely SHOULD get a firm job this summer.
