Do people study over break?
« on: January 02, 2007, 05:37:31 PM »
Am I naive to think that I really have 4 weeks (3 now) to do nothing? Are my colleagues actually studying for next semester? I was just planning on chilling, so I get nervous when I think of people reading and studying for next semester. What do most people do during winter break?

I didn't touch a book until about a week before school, when I did any first day/week class assignments.

The only thing I'd worry about doing (if you haven't already) is look for a job, especially if you're hoping to be in a firm.

Nice plug.  ;)

Alcoholism keeps me busy over breaks. Its hard to study and maintain a buzz.

I plan to check the online schedule Sunday night to see when and where my classes are on Monday.

It's hard to get significantly ahead over break.  Most people need the rest after the first semester of 1L.  I don't think it's a good idea to hit the textbooks or commercial outlines during the break, you risk getting burnt out in April, May, and/or June.  Try getting some lighter, law-related reading, like popular nonfiction about law, which will keep at least a bit of your brain in law mode, but you won't expect yourself to retain and remember that sort of stuff.

I had some homework over break (as an evening student, 2 of my classes carry over), and some pre-class homework for one of my new classes.  However, I also took quite a bit of time to relax and de-stress.

My class is to start in about 4 days and I have not touched a single book.  It was eat, sleep, movie all day.

I need this break to recharge and get back in the game sharp and pumped.

i volunteered at a legal services clinic over break.  it was helpful for me as a 1L to be able to start doing some hands-on stuff

I guess I lack that extreme drive. I started working on stuff a week before classes began but......I just cant imagine hitting the books hard the week after finals are over. haha. man no way.
