Ok, I need some advice from people that are actually in law school already.

My last semester of my undergrad I only need 13 hours to finish (5 classes). But, I have 2 options here.

1. Take it easy with the 13 hours.
2, Add a Torts class and take 16 hours.

The extra work won't really bother me, but if I have a chance to have a leg up as a 1L then I think I should take it.

Thoughts?

They teach torts in undergrad now?

Spend the extra time volunteering at your local legal aid or public defender office (or as a CASA volunteer). Those would be much more valuable to you.

Saddly during school I can't because I also work. But that would be a good idea for the summer.

I think the Torts class is for the paralegal program, but we actually have a bunch of law classes at my school. I am in Legal Writing and Research this semester.

It may help you a little.  Don't take it unless you're really interested.  Its not going to make much of a difference IMO.  However, if you could take some kind of legal writing class, that would be very helpful.

If interested, take torts, but if not interested it'll be fine.

I don't think it's a bad idea to take it. I took a few law related classes while I was in undergrad, and while they haven't helped me a great deal, it is nice to have at least a little background.

I agree on the suggestion for a legal-writing related class, rather than taking torts as an undergrad.

I am in legal writing and research right now. So it is not an either or thing for me. Torts will be next semester... if I take it.

Does your school allow you to audit courses?  This means you can sit in on the class, but you don't receive a grade for it and are not required to take tests.

I did this with a couple of subjects that I had a personal interest in, but didn't want to commit to having to do an overload and risk getting a bad grade.

Perhaps you could do this, and just sit in on the class and absorb legal knowledge thru osmosis or something.

I talked to one of my professors (I had him for Copyright Law, Legal Problems in the Recording industry, and am doing legal research for him as a practicum) and he seems to think that Torts would help me out a bit.

However, I just found out that on the same night and time there is a class on Entertainment Law that I would not mind taking. I am a Recording Industry/Music Business undergrad and plan on doing Entertainment or IP law. BTW, if I take Entertainment Law instead it will count towards my major, and I will only need the 13 credits still. 

What do you guys think?
