Phone call from firm

I had my call back interview with my top-choice firm on Sept. 7th, and I know that the firm completed all of its second round interviews this past Thursday. Last night (Friday) at 5:30 pm, the hiring partner left a voicemail on my home answering machine asking me to give him a call. Do you guys think this is good news? Is there any reason, besides offering me a position, that a hiring partner would call me on a Friday night at 5:30? I tried calling him back, but he was gone for the weekend.

Congratulations, you're getting an offer. They will sometimes give the offer over the voicemail, but some won't. I got one that told me he had good news for me, but didn't say what it was. Obviously, it was an offer.

Phone call is good. They always send bad news in a letter. Call with the good news. Congrats!

Yep, you're def. getting an offer; they usually don't tell you in the voicemail; they want you to call them back and tell you one-to-one.
Congrats!

If you don't have a rejection, don't give up hope. 3 weeks is kind of a long time, but some places wait until they interview everyone before replying.

I had a call back and they said I'd hear within 2-3 weeks. I was losing hope until last week (3 weeks later) I got a letter telling me the hiring committee had not yet met. Thus, I will hear in a bit. Don't lose hope (even if I have)
