When I was in high school my entire english 11 class was brought to see Wit at a local theatre. Knowing the subject matter I was terrified that it would be very hard for me to watch as my mother had been diagnosed with breast cancer only a few weeks before then (she is fine now) but it actually ended up helping me. The humor is incredibly intelligent and sharp. If anyone hasn't seen it; I would definitely recommend it.

Oh, I forgot about Best in Show -- and their others are hilarious, too: Mighty Wind, Waiting for Guffman, and Spinal Tap (same crowd). These are GREAT!!

Have you seen it or just read it?

Sadly, I have never seen it on stage.  I've only seen the movie, which I didn't particularly enjoy. 

I did a monologue from it my sophomore year and immediately decided it HAD to be my directing project .

It always makes me sad when people say things like, "Why would I want to watch someone die for two hours?"  Really, if you feel like you were watching her die for two hours, the director (or the actress, or both) got it SERIOUSLY wrong.

No, I saw the original production.  Rediculously good.  Though I did have someone with me say "Oh my God, I had no idea I'd have to see some old naked lady at the end."  Needless to say, I have yet to take her to a play again, haha!

I haven't read the Pillowman, perhaps I should look into it.

I've only seen two things at the Alley, and one of them was bad enough that I have no desire to ever go there again

Oh, I've seen LOADS of crap at the Alley.  And by crap, I mean stinking, heaping piles of sh!t.  But for every 7 bad ones, I've seen 1 really kick ass play.  I basically just wait to hear the reviews before I show up there, haha!

please.  You guys would love pillowman.  it's probably one of the bloodiest plays ever.  It's set in a police state, and these two brothers are being interrogated for these murders.  One of them writes these childrens stories that always end in the kids being mutilated and killed, and somehow someone's been going around doing copy-cats of the sick stories.  And you watch the murders happen on stage, in (so I've heard) amazingly graphic displays.  

Hmmm... and why do I want to read this again?
