On a much lighter note, but sticking with the humor topic, I'm interested to hear about what people find funny. Not because I'm looking to judge intelligences, but because I'm always looking for the possibility of discovering some new treasure of funniness, and because I love seeing the variety of tastes.

I thought "Thank You For Smoking" was a hilarious movie.

Definitely the funniest movie I have seen in a long time.

I've caught a few reruns of "The Office" this summer, but it hasn't really done anything for me.  Steve Carrell's character just makes me cringe.  I wonder if I'd like the British version any better.

I had exactly the same initial impression, but like a lot of shows I watch, it's not until I start to know all the characters well that I find the subtle humor in them. Keep watching!

I mean, who would think Cramer was funny intially?

I agree on "The Office" -- it takes several episodes to really start appreciating it. (Perhaps this is evidence of developing a certain "intelligence" that enables you to "get" it?) It is hands down my favorite comedy on television, though.

Simpsons is hit or miss, for me. And not the entire episodes -- though there are some classics. Usually, though, it's a few choice gems in a given episode, surrounded by a hefty dose of so-so humor. South Park has me laughing more consistently.

I've not yet developed the intelligence for King of the Hill, Futurama, or Family Guy. And probably won't, since I don't try.

Bill Murray is a favorite.

I mentioned those female comedians on another thread, but I'll mention them again: Ellen Degeneres, Paula Poundstone, Rita Rudner.

Oh, and Steven Wright.

I think I'm the only person on the planet who has never seen more than one or two Sienfeld episodes. 

You're not alone. I've seen the show maybe three times total on late night reruns.

No one has mentioned... THE COLBERT REPORT or THE DAILY SHOW. These two are by far my favorite late night TV fodder.
