Anyone attempting a transfer to Buffalo?
« on: July 19, 2006, 07:15:52 PM »
I applied to the University at Buffalo as a transfer student. I was wondering if anyone else is attempting this and has any insight? Thanks!!

Buffalo (the city) is a dump, don't go.

I would rather deal with a dump for $11,000 per year for tuition than a decent city for $35,000 per year.

Buffalo (the law school) is a great education and is located in Amherst (a suburb) that is not bad at all in my opinion. Good luck!

UPDATE: Buffalo has received 30 transfer applications for 10 seats...this isnt looking too good!

33% is a GREAT chance. What are you talking about?

My grades were average-above average. I did exceptional in some classes and mediocre in others. The biggest reason for the transfer is because I have a chronic medical condition and my insurance is not accepted in Mass. There is no negotiating the insurance issue b/c i'm lucky to have any sort of coverage that pays $2000 per month for medicine. I have been driving back and forth to NY to get medications and treatment. Buffalo is much closer to home and my medical providers.

I sent them five letters of recommendation, 4 from professors and 1 from the chief attorney at my clerkship this summer. I dont think 33% is good odds. I'm just waiting for my rejection letter to roll in. At least I tried.
