Off Campus Housing, suggestions?

I'm an incoming 1L and I still haven't secured an apt.  Some of my housing preferences are below and I'd appreciate any suggestions/advice. 

-1 bd or studio
-$1000 or less
-clean
-secure: does a large apt complex offer more security?  there are smaller buildings with 7 - 8 units with cheaper rent, are they not as safe? 
-must have a kitchen
-added bonus: onsite gym/pool
-within a 15 minutes driving distance to SCU

Sorry for taking a while to reply.  I haven't logged on in a white and just read your reply. 

I found a one bedroom apt - it's not fancy but it's clean and within walking distance to school.

thanks the linden arms one looks good. i have two dogs under 40 pounds. my lease ends in november so i have some tim but i definitely want to move closer to scu
