Living arrangements during summer associateship?

Question: If a law school would get a summer associateship out of state and not know anyone who lives there, what would he/she do for living arrangements?  It may be hard to find an apartment you can move into where you can go month to month.  What would the student do in this situation?  Any experiences or ideas?

Try finding someone who's looking to sublet their apartment for the summer.  In major cities, it's not uncommon.

www.craigslist.org can be nice for this - just choose the city you're looking for housing in or near, and check out apartments or shares.  There's usually some short term stuff available, especially over the summer.

Thanks for your responses.  Tell me, does a law firm ever assist in finding living arrangements?

they generally will.  a lot of times, local students who will be away for the summer will try to find folks to sublet by passing info on to local firms.  our recruiting director was constantly sending us emails for available sublets.

NALP had a housing site set up, but it looks like it was only available until may 1.  craigslist is also a good idea.

If the internship is in a city, you could see if any universities can rent you a dorm room... I know some DC universities do it.

the firm i'm working for takes proactive steps in finding and setting up 'temp' housing for summer associates; is this sort of thing in the minority?
