Don't get a roller, only the gunners and weirdo's use rollers.

What bags do you recommend? I don't want to the roller ones but I'm not sure what the other options are...

LL Bean makes big bags if you want to carry your books and laptop in the same bag. They make some pretty classy ones too. It is also possible to go to school without bringing every book you own. Leave some in a locker or something.

Even though it's a huge hole punched in the cuteness card...I recommend a rolling bag.  After two months of law school I had several nights were I couldn't sleep because my back hurt from the *no $hit* 67 lbs. of crap I had to carry to and from school.  Granted I have a semi-crappy back to begin with...

You can always do rolling bags in style, I recommend Tumi

Buy yourself a nice, expensive getting ready to start law school present!!!

This is what I use.  It's the best.  It carries my IBM T40 and casebook (only one).
The slide-out compartment is perfect for "junk."

I use a Brenthaven.  It works for 2 casebooks, my laptop, and all miscellaneous crap.  Only downside is that the side pockets are only large enough for a Red Bull can.

That's a nice bag and pricey. The only thing that would concern me would be the weight of two casebooks against my laptop. What type of protection is in there for the laptop?
