I went down the shore, and I got a little sunburn, and it now hurts!

Where'd you go?  Atlantic City, Wildwood, LBI?

We in California call it the BEACH.  I've never heard anyone say, "I'm going down to the shore."

Once you get to Jersey and above, they call the beach "the shore".

Those wacky Yankees.

yes i'm from philly so i go down the shore, go up the mountains, put gravy on my pasta (not sauce), drink "wooder", eat water ice.  if you go to the northeast you don't go to the beach unless you're already down the shore.  the shore is the whole town, hotel, boardwalk, bar, ocean, beach.  if you go to the beach, then you're already down the shore and you're heading to the actual beach.

kmpnj, i went to brigintine with the girlfriend.  it's right near atlantic city, but you don't get all the casino mess. it's nice i recommend brigintine.

My parents live in Brig...I grew up there and went to AC high.  Anyway, I'm in Somers Point now and, unfortunately, will be commuting every day to Widener...damn!

Ahh, the Jersey shore. I went there twice while I was studying in the Philly area. My friend's parents had this great house on the harbor. I believe the name of the town was Stevie's Harbor, but I'm not sure. I had a great time.

The Delaware beaches are better.  There are far fewer needles washing ashore and they don't require you to buy a beach tag ( yes, New Jersey really does this) to enter.
