You really should only have to take it once.  From what I've heard, it's a cakewalk (75% pass rate).

So, the statistics law schools give on Bar passage rate are based on people taking it for the 1st time?

If you could take it countless times, then why do people on this board say "if the school's passage rate is 60%, that means there are many law school graduates that didn't pass it and aren't able to become lawyers out there"?

I can't specifically answer your question, however I can tell you that I have read/heard several anecdotes about people taking the Bar upwards of 10-12 times. Not that I would ever tell a law school graduate to find another field, I would feel their their ability to pursue their goals of practicing law appears to be severely compromised.
