Thinking about transferring - need advice please

i'ma current GW 1L considering putting out a couple of transfer apps if it turns out i'm competitive

brief rundown of me: top 16-35% percentile 1st. sem. bio major from a top UC. 3 years neuroendocrinology lab experience. want to do ip law.


any suggestions? waste of time to put out a couple of transfer apps? any shot at UCLA?

any info, ideas, etc. will be appreciated

If you want to do IP and you have a bio degree and that neuro lab experience, why on earth would you want to leave DC for LA???

It doesn't seem to make sense to leave GW for UCLA if you are going to do IP. 
If the warm weather is that important to you, you should think Palo Alto. But I still think you're in a very good position if you stay put.

maybe i'll put an app to berkeley though that is probably a shot in the dark

Apply to Berkeley. I think that's smart. Of course, they have a top-notch IP program.

If you hate the cold, get the hell out.

GW has a great IP prgram cuz DC is a hot bed. You can easily get IP jobs outside DC (somewhere warmer) if you transferto say a vandy or duke.

Cold weather is NOT worth it. Neither is DC to be honest.

Stay at GW if you want IP. Esp. if you're in the top third.  For IP you'll do as well at GWU as you would transferring to a T14.  If you want ANY other type of practice, then transfer if you can.  But top third won't do you much, you probably won't get in anywhere for transfer.
