When the professor attempts a thought-provoking question like, "So do you think Justice Brennan's argument was valid?"

The guy who blurts out, "No!"

Of course when the professor then feels obligated to ask the guy to elaborate, he just acts surprised, stammers, "uh"s, and fails to articulate any kind of reasoning to support his boldly vocal opinion.

Repeat this scenario several times a week.

Yeah, so instead of studying my ass off for my exams, I'm avoiding it by doing unproductive things like this ... I can name off a person in my class who meets each of these.

1. The one who failed Legal Writing
2. The one with the most Lexis points
3. The one whose mom called the professor to complain about his grade
4. The one who started that rumor that got that guy expelled
5. The one who everyone knows doesn't wash his hands after he goes to the bathroom
6. The one who already has a clerkship lined up, 3 years in advance

Yes it happens. All the time.  I limit myself to IM conversations with other mameber of the class and we at least talk about class stuff.
