What happens if you get an F at your school?

I know lots of schools are different...some, you retake the test, some you have to retake the whole class.

but what about the substantive courses, like torts or contracts, that are year-long?

So, what, you don't take the second semester of the class?

Example -

You have Property I and Property II. Property I u bombed and got an F. Property II u got a B. You only need to take the Property I over.

Even if you fail the first semester of a year-long course, yes you move on to the second part the next semester. Its probably not even taught that next semester. also, with respect to year-long courses, the spring semester part usually doesn not build on what you've learned in the Fall.
