Is OneNote worth getting for law school?

Absolutely!  I love it.  It was one of the best purchases I made, and everyone else in my classes that uses it love it as well.  I'd get it before you start school, or during a break, however, so you can play around with the features and learn your way around the program.

Why is it so great? What does it allow you to do?

It's just a great way to organize your notes.  I like the set up and the accessability.  I love outlining in OneNote, as you can format it how you want w/o the horrible auto-format crap that word does.  Word is great for typing papers and memos, but I'd hate taking notes on it.

Go to the microsoft website, and download the free demo, and play with it for a bit.  Everyone seems to like different things about it.  I couldn't really get a sense of what was different/special about it until I tried it out myself.

The free form pages are a big plus.  It really works even better if you spring for a tablet.  I also like that I don't have to save everything, and folders aren't cluttered with hundereds of files of notes, and that if I need to find something, the search function is very quick.
