i mean not conceptually - but time wise, ouch

i'm routinely going from 8 am to 12am everyday

and the socratic method - i suppose in one capacity or another it has some sort of educational merit but really what's the value in relating all the various arguments and facts back to the professor only to have him catch you out some idiosyncratic nuance (that happens to be more or less irrelevant to the doctrine that you're discussing) in front of 150 of your peers?

i feel as if i generally take five or so lines of notes per class

is 1L a right of passage type of thing or what? am i running the "gauntlet"? is this the crucible? i'm assuming that 2L might be a little different ... ?

I do think the orginal poster is right however, conceptually its not difficult just the time needed to "complete: all the assignments to the extend they "expect" you to is impossible.

Some people are slower readers, some profs assign more work (one here has routine 50 page reading assignments), and some spend days on a case so you do much more work in class than outside of class.

i don't think conceptually it is that hard, but some ideas can be tricky to wrap ur head around, the funny thing is the people that think all the concepts were easy might do horrible on the exam because they don't know how to apply the concepts, right now i would say i am at school from 9-7 somedays more somedays less, but some of that time is spent socializing, i think if you are spending 12 hours doing work everyday now, you are going to have a really hard as the semester goes, especially right before finals, when everyone will be putting in 12-14 hour days

I was only working from 10am until 6 or 7 pm this time 1L.  Then again, I started book briefing right away and never looked back.  Just my advice, but it truly does not matter whether or not you are ready for class.  Pass if you want, sound like an idiot if you dare, but it's anonymous grading and it's only the exam that counts.  I have found that exam prep is a very different set of hoops to jump through than class prep.  So I put all my eggs into the exam prep basket, and I actually have time to spend outside of lawschool.

Just be careful dude, since book-briefing doesn't work for everyone. I know kids who made law review and understand most material instinctively, who still brief everything (which admittedly is quite anal). Anyway, if you are doing 16 hours of work a day, and you are of at least average intelligence for your school, you should be able to kick ass on finals, pyrrhically or not.

I only have 3 classes, but Im putting in 4 hours a day and that is more than enough.
