internet surfing during lectures

Someone told me today that the indicator of a really dull lecture is that one runs out of things to look at on the internet.(However, I know the frat-boys in sitting in front of me in my evidence class could never get tired of looking at soft-core porn and chatting with "hot babes")  I think, as difficult as it may be, I will attempt to sit through all of my courses this year with the wi-fi off, and the solitare closed. Think it will work?

Even if I had no computer, any porn, of any "core" would steal my attention.

I stopped taking my computer to class because I always ended up online and not paying attention.  As I mentioned in another post, when I stopped taking my computer to class my grades went up a ton. 

Of course, there were days when I looked at my neighbors computer to keep entertained...

I wish you luck.  I tried that, but I never managed to last more than a couple of weeks.  I do agree though, your grades will go up if you're successful!

I remember a 1L student who played solitaire literally through all of the lectures.  These weren't necessarily boring lectures, in fact, they were quite intense.  But, this girl sat there through the entire class looking bored and "above it all" playing solitaire.  I was baffled.  Was she really that freakin' brilliant?  She seemed to know all the right answers when the prof called on her and she did have briefs in her notebook.  I was fascinated.

My question was answered after mid-terms.  She didn't return to school. 

There was another student who was on shopping websites non-stop (she had designer handbags she rotated weekly and a jaguar-obviously she had the means to shop).  Another fascinating subject for me to study.  So far I haven't seen her on campus this year.  Hmmm.

Ask around about that student you never see anymore, before you come to the wrong conclusion.  I knew a student that insisted on not reading cases, and who didn't pay attention to the professors.  Students refused to study with him because he wasn't reading cases. We didn't see him after the first year either - because he transferred to Georgetown.

Yeah, we had a couple of students also who everyone assumed flunked out--- they'd actually transferred.

For some reason this year all of my courses are not rooms that are not equipped for wireless. It's so annoying because I have one professor who is sooooooo boring. It's all I can do to stay awake for the full two hours. If only I had the internet!

Our K prof just told us that if we are caught playing games on our computer once, we are kicked out for that class. If we are caught twice, we fail the course. Yikes!! I am glad I leave my laptop at home!

I sit up front -- it's harder to surf the web from the front row. I check my e-mail and craigslist for a minute or two but that's about it.
One day I ended up in the back and I was really surprised how many people are goofing off back there.

That's ironic... my K prof is so hilarious, we don't need to surf the net or play games to be entertained.  She finished off the last class doing her impression of Yoda (from Star Wars) and making analogies with DragonbalZ (I think that's what its called?) 

If there is one thing I took away from this first week, it's that getting the right professor definately does make a difference.  I hear from students in other sections saying how hard/boring their K class is, while we look forward to each class wondering what crazy song-and-dance show our K prof will put on next!  On the other hand, I got the short straw in certain other subjects and only wish I were in the other section(s).
