I have two I purchased, and I am wondering if red leather is ok, or is black leather the only way to go?

I use a black leather briefcase for school, so I guess for an interview a red one would be more appropriate.

Red, particularly in muted tones, can function as a neutral.  If it looks attractive with your well-tailored and professional looking suit, then go for it.  I wore a dark purple suit during interviews that had everyone aghast.  I had plenty of job choices.
