Widener DE Pre-Orientation Dinner Poll
« on: July 23, 2005, 07:33:42 AM »
I think this is *probably* going to end up being Saturday, what with Friday being move-in and Sunday being the last night for us to spend with our families and non-ls friends, but this way we can get a headcount and make a reservation.

Right now, it seems like the presumptive restaurant of choice is the Melting Pot (fondue), but if someone has another suggestion or fondue poses some sort of problem (it's not all cheese, in case you have cheese issues!), vote your alternative in the comments.

Hi, unfortunately because of personal issues, I won't be able to make dinner.  I just thought I'd let you know here since I originally thought I could.   :'(

We should do this Monday after class.  We won't have anything better to do... and we can all have the 'what the heck was I thinking' conversation.

Good call -- I was thinking about people who might have to worry about other mouths to feed, but if we made the reservation around 6 or after, even off-campus people would have a chance to run home if necesaary.  I can't modify the stupid poll, but feel free to add your votes for Monday here in the comments.

Whatever night we come up with, I will add a couple of seats to the reservation for anyone who finds they can make it after thinking they couldn't or for any latecomers to the board.

Have we decided on a location yet?  I'll eat anything that won't eat me first...  ;)  (Get your mind out of the gutter!)

Twarga, your suggestion of the Melting Pot is tempting -- although I think we're still open to objections if it poses a huge problem for someone.  It is a tad pricey, but less so when you're splitting with a group, and I feel like if ever there are dinners to splurge on, this is one of them.

For those new to the area, other nice options along the stretch of 202 near school that I can remember off the top of my head include: Utage (sushi and other Japanese), Nirvana (Indian, buffet-style), Bertucci's (Italian), Jasmine (Asian fusion), a couple of Chinese places with names that escape me at the moment, Hibachi, as well as an assortment of TGIFriday's-type mall-ish fare.

I only recommended the Melting Pot because it forces diners to interact with each other and provides instant conversation.  You're right about it being a tad pricey, though.  Like I said, it's all the same to me.  I was born hungry.

Exactly.  But also, let us not forget the intrinsic merits of melty cheese.
