What kind of laptop did you guys end up picking up?  I'm in the process of making a final decision and am interested to see what direction you guys are going. Thanks!

I'm just going to use my normal HP until it dies out on me. Hopefully it will work for a few more years.

I went with the Sony Viao FS.  For about $2,000.00 i got all the power and storage i could ever want.  I have had it for about 2 months now and i still feel it was a good buy.

Dell Insipron 700m, its fantastic.  I also upgraded it to 1.5 gigs of ram.

hp nc8000, cost about $900 can play rome total war/gta san andreas on it

I really wanted to pull the triger on the 700m, but I went to check it out and it's just too small for my hands.  Did you care at all the the accidental damage warranty isn't offered in Florida, or was it just not important to you?

Don't spend too much money. And take notes on paper...it keeps you paying more attention.

i work as a computer tech and i would stay away from dells if i were you.  usually when we see dells come in someone will say something like well what do you expect it's a dell.. i think the most reliable notebooks are going to be hp and toshiba in my opinion.  best customer service, most reliable internal pieces and the most cost effective.  another thing you really want to consider for anyone who is in law school is an external hard drive.  you would definatly want to back up all your outlines, notes etc.  I remember one time this girl came into our shop from temple law in the middle of november and hard drive went corrupt, she lost every note from the entire semester 2 weeks before finals.  as you can imagine she was not happy.
