Hi Guys,

I survived my first day (actually night as I am a p/t student) of orientation. Not too bad, went over briefing, outlining, hierarchy of US court system and sources of law ancillary or otherwise...We had burrito bar dinner with our peer mentors as well

Tomorrow night is our mock class/socratic intro...techie stuff and handbook rules.....

Thursday is spouse/sig other day, as well as professionalism oath, bar panel,  and career panel....

I am liking it so far... There are a LOT of paralegals (many of whom have their paralegal cetificates and already know how to research etc... so everyone else is feeling the pressure.... esp in my research and writing section where 12 of the 20 students are paras)

Books cost almost $600 and that is not counting supplements.... yikes.

When do you all start?

Oh I forgot to mention my classes...

I have civ pro, contracts, torts and research and writing this semester.... each class once a week on its own night.......

what are your schedules like?

We could tell you... but then we'd have to kill you.   :D

Stick around and study, maybe one of us will PM you with the answer.

hey pluto, that's great!  We have almost the same classes but I take contracts next semester.  I don't think you have anything to worry about with the paralegals; it's like everything in life, some people will be smarter, and some will be rocks.  With one year already under your belt... I think you'll do great.  Plus, that's why we have the study group.  I'm hoping that if I have a question, I can pass it by everyone here and we can figure it out together.  One thing I know I'm going to need help with is shepardizing, in undergrad we were allowed to use westlaw, so it was a matter of hitting a button.

Part time program and you go four nights a week, huh?  Wow... I don't know what to say about that, my last semester of UG I had that many classes and I was considered full time.  Did you know that?  You go to GG right, do you know if other Pt programs are the same?

LOL,

yah i knew it would be 4 nights a week.... could be worse.... Santa Clara was 4 nights a week also, though you had 2 classes each night instead on one rather long class....

Yah, research and writing seems to be the most cutthroat...LOL....

I am  not planning on telling anyone that I have a year and a half under my belt, I will just fly under the radar...LOL....

So are you guys excited, when does your orientation start? Tonight is my mock class... should be fun....

The first reading assignments are ready for Southwestern so I've been reading up on Torts and Crim Law and I should be finishing up Contracts this weekend. I started using E&E's for these classes and it seems to be helping.

I.A.N...? making guesses in my head.

Peace

lol! Seriously, I am sooo glad Widener's part time is three nights a week. It is still four classes, CivPro, K, Torts, and Legal methods, but that one night a week home makes all the difference. Especially when your commute is 2 hours each way!!

Yanky-
Did you finish all of the reading for orientation? I am trying to do the whole week's worth, since I will be working all day and having class every night during orientation.
