Hi robocop!  How's your summer?

Intro to Law (for one week) starts August 15.  It's a crash course in case briefing, how the court system is set up, and an overview of how our government's power is derived from the U.S. Const.  They want everyone to get a good idea of how to pick out the pertinent issues in a case and become familiar with the terminology.  At least, that's what it seems to me, but what do I know? 

As for the rest of my classes, I have Civil Procedure, Legal Methods and Analysis I, Property I, and Torts.  The good news is I get out at 1:15 on Friday.  I'm hoping that I'll have some time for fun, but I don't know...  I kinda goofed off all summer... not a good start, huh?

I haven't looked at the Gilberts, but the E&E's are good. I've also heard that Glannon's new Civ Pro book does a good job. (FWIW)

Hey all!

I have been reading the e and e series(ive read contracts and civ pro and am working through torts) to prep... I just got my orientation packet(august 9-11th) and the homework for it doesnt seem to bad.. much like yanky... understanding how court system works, terms, and learning to brief cases...(we have 2 paperback books and 1 pamphlet of cases).... If I finish the torts  e and e this week, I will have one week to read the new Harry Potter before I need to begin the hw for orientation;) One nice thing is GG offers a spouse.partner/s.o/ panel to prep them for the law school experience.... and then they   watch us give our professionalism oath:)  Kind of a nice evening followed by a reception... I rhought that was a nice touch.

So is everyone excited... or what??

Hi pluto!  That reception sounds like an excellent idea.  Everytime I tell my husband about the type of support I'll need while doing this, I think he thinks I'm exagerating. I keep saying that I can't skate through this like undergrad. 

I bought the Gilbert 1st year books, and I've started Civ. Pro.  But, to be quite honest, I think my paralegal books are a better overview.  I mean they do outline it quite well, but my undergrad books have more helpful charts, and checklists.  I don't know... I haven't read that much of it yet... we'll see.

Charts and checklists might help w/the black letter law, but when it comes to tests it's analysis that you need. For this stuff, books like the E&E's are helpful. (Haven't seen the paralegal books...can't compared.)

A week to read HP? I read it in a day.

LOL... yes but did you have four toddler/little ones climbing onto your lap as soon as you sat "dum"(down in reg english)...

I can't wait to read HP... that is my law prep, if i can learn to say all the latin phrases.... like i am saying a spell... i should have it made:)
