What is everyone up to?
10,700 Westlaw & 6700 Lexis. Not a bad deal, by graduation I should be able to get a couple ipods or something.

okay, dumb question... I'll be a 1L this fall... are these like frequent user points? And are they actually good for something?

I'm a 1L and hooked on points - I gather these will rollover through the years? I'm up to 9300 Westlaw, 7000 Lexis. But last semester on West amounted to less than 3000 of that; they seem to be adding a lot more opportunities to earn points recently.

Yeah the points rollover and are good until 60 days after graduation.
Enjoy all the plush 1L point opportunities, b/c the instant wins and freebies disappear...the only decent opportunities to accumulate points after the first year are time consuming....i.e. in person training seminars.

nope, I'm a 3L and I'm still collecting points just by logging onto Lexis, which I do daily anyway. I didn't even know about it until last year - that's the best thing I've learned from this discussion board. I have to redeem the Lexis points by the end of the month - I'm getting a sweet baby stroller.

Ok, how the hell do you earn points on Lexis other than answering their stupid ass research trivia questions (that actually require you to go search for the answer)?
Westlaw is easy, log on, search, key cite, log off, trivia. But lexis? Wtf?
