Well, as it's the middle of finals right now, I'd only have bad things to say, but that would be the case no matter I was at school.  In all seriousness, anyone who wants info on 'nova should feel free to drop me a line.

As for the dreaded yuppiness factor, you do see a few daddy-purchased Mercedes in the parking lot.  But that's by far the minority, as just about all of us took out major loanage to come here.

Is there anyone out there that can fill me in on this financial aid application process?  I'm gonna ask for the full amount of Stafford Loan, but what about the Perkins one?  Are we automatically considered or is that a separate application?  I know a lot of this information is probably on the website, but their financial aid webpage is too much to handle right now.  I need at least another 6,000 dollars after the Stafford Loan.  Anyway, any help would be great.

I think the Perkins lonas have to be applied for very early on in the process. I think that is whth the priority deadlines are for. As for the fin aid (really just loan application) process, you have to start with your FAFSA. Then you have to fill out the VLS fin aid form. Then they will review it and see if there is any additional info they need (Asset disclosure form, etc). I'm still in the "additional info" phase, so I can't offer any more help. The people in the fin aid office are helpful, but be sure to get right to the point. They don't really excel at chit chat. And they give very short, direct answers. But they do know what they are doing (I think).

Do you know which lender you will be using?  What are the perks for using their preferred lender (Sallie Mae)?

They said the prefered lender, by Villanova's calculations, offers the best rates. I just went with that.

Thanks guys.  I did suck it up and call them.  They said the perkins loan is a first-come-first-served type thing based on need.  They said you're automatically considered for it when you apply for aid...and that you can lower your private loans later if you recieve the perkins.
