I just want to know how Robert Blake can be acquitted while Scott Peterson is sentenced to death (much less convicted) based wholly on circumstantial evidence.

I think both OJ and Blake were innocent.  I think they were involved but didn't kill them personally. 

I think the biggest evidence for me that makes me not believe Blake did it was because the gun was covered with oil, an oil which was not on blake's hands, anywhere on his clothes, or in his car.
