Transfering to the 45 range

Here is another one of these questions.

I want to transfer from a fourth tier school to a school ranked around 45. My GPA for the first semester was just a 3.2. Do you agree that I would need to do a lot better next semester?

My reasons for transferring just have to do with location and cost.

well, it all depends on your class ranking. If your school hasn't released rankings yet, look at last year rankings and see where you GPA would have put you ( it's usually a good indicator). For the best chances for moving up to a top 50, aim for the the top 10% of your class. Schools tend not to care about the gpa it is aall about your class rank. Good Luck!

Apply.  The worst thing that can happen is that you get a rejection, but just think of the possibilities if you actually get in!

I agree with the above poster.  A 3.2 is pretty solid if your school grades on a C curve.

Thanks for the encouragement. The thing is I think we are on a B curve. I've heard that I can expect to be at 65%. I think this means I need to do a lot better.
