Last night, one of my classmates decided to drop LWR and take it again next year.  We're 10 weeks into the class, but she was feeling the pressure and decided to drop this class because ..... well, because it's the worst class of the bunch.  We are learning the least.

I thought seriously about dropping it, too, because it would seem LWR provides a foundation for other classes.  Doesn't it?   

DO NOT DROP LRW!  At my school LRW is a pass/fail course but I hear that it is very important b/c a lot of employers want to see your writing samples from that course.  Also, I hear that if you do well your LRW prof will be more willing to write a LOR for you.

PS:  How is you neighbor doing?  Is he holding on or did he pass away?

Depending on the evaluations she may be there next year, and the next and the next.
It may be unavoidable to have her as an instructor.
However, if she stays I would think things will change.
The Dean suggested I find a mentor in a 3rd or 4th year student........
It is a shame, but like one of my extremely empathetic classmates said,
"Well, somebody is understanding it because there are A's"

From what I have heard from students with attorney connections (duh, there are some) their memos were more than adequate. Some who were graded C or worse were told by those in the legal profession theirs were commendable!
So........just do the best you can to please her and her standards. You know more than she would lead you to believe!

For torts we are using a hornbook, not a casebook, and using actual case opinions.

Uh, casebooks = "actual case opinions."

A classmate dropped criminial law the day before the final.  That seemed pretty drastic, but I guess if you're tanking the class it makes sense to drop and avoid the bad grade.  Or does it?

What?!?!  What's the deal w/people at your school dropping classes?  Is that typical in law school?  Maybe people are doing it here and I just don't know about it.  I'd rather suck it up and get it over with.  I'd hate to take LRW, Crim, K, Prop or Torts ever again!!!

What would bother me about dropping is that in my crimes class NO ONE failed in my crimes class!  The lowest grade was a "D" which is still passing and better than repeating the class!

That is probably true.  Fifty percent of the people who enter doctoral programs never complete the course work.  Of those who do, fifty percent of them never complete their dissertations.  Perserverance is the key to earning a graduate degree.

I've heard a rumor that 50% finish the four year program, but I dunno.

OOoooooo.  I have over a thousand rewards points in Westlaw.  Pretty soon I can order some books, but what books?  I don't think I'll be able to get any required books, but some study guides or one of the black letter law series.

Any suggestions?

WOW!  1,000 points!  ALREADY?!?!  I like Lexis Nexis better but they don't give as many points...I might have to switch...I want free stuff!
