Deny opinion publication that reverses trial judgment!

Deny opinion publication that reverses trial judgment!
« on: March 11, 2004, 11:58:07 AM »
Anyone can help shedding some insights as why an appeal court would file an opinion ordering the reversal of a trial court judgment, but then require it not for publication?

How can one go about getting the details of this opinion?  Even that is possible?

Thanks for all the answers/leads.

More information is needed to make an intellegent answer. The old axiom "it depends" applies.

Not all opinions are published, not all opinions a worthy of publication.

Further research yields this from law.freeadvice.com:

IF I APPEAL, WILL I AT LEAST HAVE AN OPINION PUBLISHED?
Maybe not. Some circuits do not publish all opinions and have special rules about relying on such "do not publish" decisions as precedent. In fact, there may not even be an opinion because the Court of Appeals sometimes just "affirms on the opinion below" and does not even write an opinion.
