Did anyone buy a house for Law School
« on: January 29, 2004, 07:53:24 AM »
Has anyone heard of buying a house while in law school.  I don't feel like waisting a lot of money on rent, especially because I may stay in the city after I graduate.  Is this feasable?

If you have the money for a down payment and you have the credit score, it may be a good idea.  You probably know all the good stuff, building equity, sense of ownership, tax benefit. etc.

Home ownership has a down side.  You have to maintain it yourself, you have to do the yard work (or pay someone to do it), and when something breaks like a water heater or the furnace it comes out of your pocket. Not to mention insurance, taxes, and the cost of selling a house if you decide it was a bad idea.

Houses take up lots of time or money.   That said, I will never rent again unless something catastrophic happens.
