By request, here is a transferring student's board. This is in the students section of the website because you have to be a law student before you can transfer.
This fact shouldn't limit the discussion to current law students. Understandably, a lot of pre-law applicants are interested in transferring even before starting school. Feel free to discuss that interest here.

Has anyone heard about their transfer applications into New York schools yet?

Are you a BU student who made law review? With the first initial "M"?

Just heard from Columbia. I'm in as a 2L for next year, transfering from a 4th tier. Not bad, huh?

What were your #s like? Did you participate in any orgs your first yr? Why do you think they selected you? I am a 1L and am planning on transferring out and would like to be in a large city. There is not so much info re: transfers.

I was under the impression that the tranfer process takes place over the summer (with few exceptions - schools that base their decisions on the first semester grades during the spring semester). So I do not see how you could know that you have been admitted to Columbia as a tranfer in November.

It really depends on what school you are seeking to transfer from. In general, to tranfer to top 1st tier schools, you need to be: top 1-3 (and I do not mean percent) - 4th tier, top 1-5% in 3rd tier, top 10% in 2nd tier.
