I'm visiting Emory and UF next weekend.  But I'm STILL waiting to hear from UCLA and GW.  I think I'd take UCLA in a second over all of them...we'll see though!

Thanks all.  Just...I wish their waitlist chances were a *bit* better    But you are right...with my numbers, a waitlist is a MAJOR compliment..and makes me somewhat hopeful for UCLA.

I'd take a waitlist too. You mentioned "I wish their waitlist chance were a *bit* better". How does one determine whether one school's waitlist is better than another's?

AndyJay, I just called and asked them.  They said in the last three years, they've pulled NO ONE off their waitlist.  Those are pretty bad chances.

Jeez. Why even have a waitlist then. It would just give false hope to a bunch of people thinking that they have an outside chance. I would be curious to know the eventual acceptance rate of waitlisteds at various schools.

I agree with Ambs, while there might not be a snowball's chance in hell of getting off the waitlist, it at least implies that they consider you a reasonable candidate for their program.  I'd take it as a compliment and move on.
