I'm planning to visit a school I was waitlisted at and I was told to e-mail the dean and tell him when I will be there and ask to set up a short meeting with him. What do you guys think of this? Will the dean even read that e-mail?

It wasn't the admissions office that told me that. Sorry, I should have clarified that. This person was a law school applicant as well.

A lot of it depends on the school. What school are you looking at? And it can't really hurt. Worst case is they say no.
