Just in case you couldnt tell from the subject, I am wondering what you guys would do?? Go to NYU w/ 180K in loans to pay back or go to the MUCH lesser Suffolk U. with a full tuition scholarship?? I was all set and decided on NYU but then just heard today about the Suffolk scholarship... very confused here. I would really appreciate some honest responses if you guys were in my position...

NYU, hands down.

You'll easily be able to pay back the costs of your law school education if you go the private route.

Even if you go into public interest, you're better off going to NYU. They have a fantastic PI program, and one of the best LRAP programs in the country.

The opportunity costs of passing up NYU for Suffolk far exceed the difference in tuition.

I'm not sure what kind of law you want to practice, but if you plan working for a big firm, graduating from NYU law you can demand a salary that will pay off that loan pretty quickly, in my opinion.

Plus, the law degree will be more portable, whereas a Suffolk degree I get the impression it's got a lot of pull in MA, but not as much if you wanted to work elsewhere. Congratulations, btw.

No-brainer.

I was talking with an attorney who turned down a very prestigious law school because of the price--she's quite successful today, but advised me to not do what she did.

GO THERE! Even if you work publlic interest- you will have far more opportunities.
