maricutie,

correct me if i am wrong, but you got a full ride at a top ten school. you are SERIOUSLY considering turning that goldmine down to do to a DIFFERENT top ten school that didnt offer you squat?!?!

i may seriously have to knock some sense into you..... ;)

I would have to agree.  A full ride at a T14 vs. full price at Stanford seems like a no-brainer.  Unless your future plans absolutely depend on going to Stanford, you could have a really sweet deal.

I just looked at Mari's LSN page for the first time.  What I knew:  She was going to Stanford.  What I did NOT  know: She applied almost exclusively to EVERY T14 school... With ZERO rejections.

Wow.

My only issue is that I have committed to paying 1. mortgage (+ insurance) and 2. car payment (+ insurance).  Those two things alone "living expenses" plus tuition more than max me out for the amount of money Pitt certifies me for.  Plus, they didn't approve me for any need based aid.  Is there a way to get the school to up the certification amount?  Or, will private loans cover more than the certified amount?
I will be a Nittany Lion turned Pitt Panther for 1L 2005.

You can take out law loans above the cost of attendance. Bank One offers one (I know there are others too). I believe they will let you borrow up to 30k.

I'm taking out loans for tuition and all of my living expenses; I'll be going to public school in CA but paying about $40K/yr to go to school and live/sleep/eat.  I heard that you can put them on a mortgage later on in life when we'll be able to afford houses.  I don't think loans are a bad thing...you'll make it work.

I will be taking out loans to pay for the entire three years of law school in New York.  I am in total awe of what I am about to do, but I don't have much choice.  Just gotta hope that I become eligible for merit scholarships next year, and that I do well enough to make a hell of a lot of money when I graduate!
Attending: Fordham

Borrowing every cent its going to cost (And thanks BU for the Stafford loan you deemed me eligible for). This is definitely a worthwhile investment though. I go out to eat and I hate spending over 15 dollars for an entree, but I'm not thinking twice about going 150k in debt for a degree. Crazy what this drive we have does to a person.

If you call holding up liquor stores loans, then sure.

I have a couple of friends who have parents who are paying the bill, I just want to kill them.

I already have 26K undergrad debt from working through Ugrad, and I'll be putting all of law school on loans.  At least I'll work hard since I'm paying for it myself.
