CIlover,  I think it would be awesome to be able to do good that transcends national borders, at least from personal fulfillment standpoint. The only downside, if there is any, would be that sometimes int'l law is hard to enforce because some contries (US included)in recent decades have shown growing hostility toward any legal constraints upon their foreign policy.

Gattomatto, international law does deal with the U.N. and multinational organizations. International law also involves ADR for disputes between countries about borders, international criminal law (like terrorism or drugs), and business transactions.

I like international law because I enjoy working with different cultures. I'm also interested in property/real estate law and education law.

That's very TRUE, especially with the Iraq war and all.

Me personally, I would like to go into International Law focusing on International Human Rights.  I would really like to practice law that is for a cause rather than work for a firm where I have to take what comes through the door, regardless of my feelings about it (not that anything is wrong with that.)  I understand that I may have to take a job like that, which is fine, but if all works out well, I'd much rather be working for an organization fighting for the same interests as mine.  But even then, I probably would be faced with the same type of unwanted situations that could be found working anywhere else.  Oh well.

But definitely International Human Rights.

I've been a police officer for 9 years and so I have some interest in criminal prosecution at the federal level.  Not as interested in a DA or Prosecutor's Office on a county level though.

Also corporate law is interesting as I think you get a lot of face time with clients and deals usually don't drag on as long as trials (criminal or civil for that matter).  Plus they are more positive to be involved with (for the most part).

I'm hoping law school will open my eyes to some other specialties that might be interesting.
