Finally decided on Pitt
« on: March 07, 2005, 04:29:10 PM »
Who else will be going to Pitt this fall?  I have finally made my decision and will be attending.  I am coming from Kentucky and will be going to the open house on April 8th.

Did you check it out before you made your decision?  It is probably my top choice, but I find it hard to commit without a visit.  Visiting prior to the 4/15 deposit is impossible for me.  So I will probably shell out deposits to 2 schools.  Not much in the long-run, but it still sucks to be out 150 bucks.  I have heard great thing about Pittsburgh on this board and elsewhere, so it from second-hand info it looks to be a quality choice.

Yes, from all that I hear there's nothing really wrong with sending two deposits.  It's not considered unethical to my knowledge.

And I'm planning on going to Pitt as well.

There is nothing wrong with reserving seats with the first deposits, but I am not sure about 2nd deposits.  Of course by doing so, we are taking a spot from some wait-listed candidate.

What made you decide? I'm in at UK and Pitt as well. At this point it looks like UK (they offered me $9800/yr, out of state). They both have similar rankings, but UK would be cheaper; I would be paying in-state tuition to go there. They seem to have a good career services department as well.

In: UK($$), UArkansas($$), UPitt, UAkron($$)
Out: UDub, ND
Pending: Too many to list

Not to speak for sita, but from an earlier post it sounded like she was awarded merit money from Pitt, and got a Public Interest Scholarship as well.

Have any of you guys seen an academic calendar for next year?  When do classes start?  When are they over in December?   ???
Pitt is it!
