Conundrum: More than full @ UofH vs UT...

Quite possibly, my decision will be made for me depending on if a spot is open in any of the residency program. We will know something on March 15th...so keep us in your thoughts and prayers...because he could possibly not get into any residency program!

Will do.  Especially since I get to do the same thing in three years.

Thanks, Towanda.  Does your SO have three years of med school left?  What does he want to go into?

Yeah, Med students have to do a residency after medical school and there are only certain hospitals that have residency programs.  Quite possibly, my decision will be made for me depending on if a spot is open in any of the residency program.  We will know something on March 15th...so keep us in your thoughts and prayers...because he could possibly not get into any residency program!

He'll be fine. He shares my opinion about HousTTTon, must be a smart guy.

Thanks, Towanda.  Does your SO have three years of med school left?  What does he want to go into?

Yeah.  So we'll finish at the same time (those should be fun logistics to coordinate  .  I like his original plan of doing emergency medicine, because, let's face it, every city on the planet could use another ER doctor.  He definitely doesn't want a long residency, but he's exploring other options.  He has another year to figure it out.    But, since we'll be living primarily on my income during his residency (or we damn sure better be!), opportunities available where I can land a decent paying gig will be a major consideration.  Sigh... no one said love was easy....

I was interested in UH as its IP program is highly regarded.  But I had spoke with a professor there, and he made it very clear that even though I would probably get a better education for IP at UH, I would be foolish to pick UH over UT.  He flat out told me that my career prospects would be much greater (geographically, as well as the odds of landing a job period) at UT.
