$ at Houston
« on: March 04, 2005, 09:29:03 PM »
Letter was sent to my parent's address in Houston.  Apparently they're waiving out-of-state and giving me $16,000 annually on top of that (so, it's a full-ride plus $2000 or so).  I know some people are waiting to hear, just wanted people to know that letters are starting to go out.  Best of luck!

OMIGOD OMIGOD OMIGOD OMIGOD! Can I be you? They said they'd be starting on financial aid/merit awards this week. That is so wonderful for you. Congrats! I really hope they're even 1/10 as nice to me.

Thanks.  I have no idea what I'm going to do; the decision's complicated on numerous levels (but, what life-altering decision isn't, right?).

My dad scanned the letter for me.  Apparently I've been awarded two scholarships, the "Dean's Merit" (from the Law Center) for $8,000 a year and the "Presidential Graduate Fellowship" (from UofH--this is the one that includes the out-of-state waiver) for $8,000 a year, which is how my total comes a little over tuition & fees.  Letter's dated 3/2.

I did send them a letter about a month ago telling them about my other admissions offers and scholarship offers.  Don't know if that mattered or not.

I got the same deal today in the mail.  UofH Law Center Dean's Merit Scholarship for $8k a year and Presidential Graduate Fellowship for $8k a year for a total of $16k a year. The letter was also dated March 2nd.  The only contingent is that I have to maintain a 3.0.  The prospect of going to law school for free (well, besides living expenses)definately makes UofH look more attractive!

Congrats to both of you guys.  Just to make you feel better that they are not handing these out all over (or maybe they are, and I just don't know it  ;)) I received "just" a Dean's Merit Scholarship for $3K per year.

Towanda...does this change your mind about where you will be going?  Or at least make you think twice?  This is goint to make my decision very difficult.

Eliza--I replied to your other thread.  It's amazing how similar we are.  :)

Congrats to all.  I hope I get something in the mail on Monday.  Are both of y'all in Houston?
