withdrawing apps

this might sound kind of dumb, but how do you go about withdrawing apps/turning down offers? do you just send a letter saying thanks but no thanks or what?

A letter would do - sometimes a school sends a little form for you to fill about, either to accept or decline their invitation.  That'd do too!

If the school did not send a form with your admit letter, then a letter simply stating your intent to withdraw your application or turn down an acceptance is fine.

I withdrew from 3 schools via their admissions email address and I received confirmations within a day or two.
