Shea Butter is the key to beautiful skin. I use it every day and it keeps my skin nice and soft.

Ditto!  My daily skin care regimen includes cleansing with authentic African black soap and witch hazel and then round it out by moisturizing with pure, raw shea butter.

Anyone else interested in all-natural hair and body care products can also check out this sister's site...I use most of her products and am a fan for life...

Dr. Bronner's Castille Soap in either Peppermint or Lavendar.  I also sometimes use (authentic) African black soap.
You are that moon
my moon Goddess shining down light
on my Black face
that fills the universe
My moon I am your sun
and I shall take this peace
of light and build a world
for you my sister

The Peppermint makes me feel so C L E A N. I love it too, on the expensive side though.

I think this thread is great.

Have a question- What do you use on pimples? Any advice would be great.

Thanks in advance. :)

Proactiv seems to have hegemony in the acne department. But you want to always make sure you wash your face at night, shockingly so, some girls still go to bed with makeup on. Thats such a no-no.

Thanks in advance. :)

Drink at least a gallon of water a day (reminds me I have 1/3 a gallon to go)-
If it's a particularly heinous one, use a tiny bit of tee tree oil on it as a antiseptic.
Of course, don't squeeze or pick it, can make the infection worse and leave a scar (I know, better said than done!)
On my skin, I currently use Skin Ceuticals, and all their products are phenomenal, I actually use Neutrogena oil free cream cleanser as a facial wash though. And Yonka Lotion as a toner, it's very light, refreshing, and not harsh, great stuff!
And like Victor said, wash your face everyday and every night. And use sunblock (this is one I have trouble with) but Yonka makes a really good one that doesn't have that usually sunblocking heavy, creamy feeling and odor.

That's good advice for maintaining skin that is already generally healthy, Ladyday.  I concur that Proactiv is the best if you have an acne problem.

I have never had a problem with acne, even as a teen, but when I moved out here, the water was so terrible that both my hair and my skin went to hell.  I started getting pimples -- for the first time in 22 years!  I freaked out and ordered Proactiv and I must say it saved me.  No more pimples.  IF I wear foundation, it's just a tinted moisturizer, but usually I don't even wear that.  One of my male classmates actually commented today on how healthy and natural my skin was looking.
