2nd the Wheel of Time.  Big books but good (mindless reads).

On a completely different level, I'm rereading the Divine Comedy right now, and it means much more than it did during high school.

Funny read:  "America:  Democracy Inaction" Jon Stewart

--I was cracking up the whole way through that one.

I sat in Urban Outfitters for about 45 minutes (as if it was B&N) and I couldn't put the book down.  Definitely a funny read!

Another Malcolm Gladwell book (written before Blink) is the Tipping Point.  Very interesting!
I will be a Nittany Lion turned Pitt Panther for 1L 2005.

My 9-year old is reading Dear Dumb Diary.  I guess it's pretty good (as far as 4th grade reading goes), because she's laughing her a*ss off and saying, "Listen to this mom," every 10 minutes.

Then there's Giggle Giggle Quack about the ducks who find a pencil and revamp the farmer's to do list.  Engaging reading, indeed!

Oh, I know "Giggle, Giggle, Quack," but being the elitist that I am, I'm not big on spin-offs.

Ok, now that were getting into the kiddie lit...

I love The Giving Tree and the Suess and Boynton books.  Stellaluna is one of our favorites also. Stand Tall, Molly Lue Melon is a great one for kids who are struggling with the "nobody likes me" thing.

You want me to go all the way up there, to a Yankee school, just so I can come over every weekend and practice "free love" with you?

The Giving Tree made me so mad I threw it out.  Imagine... a boy who uses up all the love a woman has to offer?  Hmmmm?  We had this book, Doll Face Throws a Party, that my girls made me read to them every night.  Great book.
