Sigh. It really doesn't seem fair.

I assume this is intended as a criticism of affirmative action.  This thread is for offering practical advice to black law school applicants, not for broader discussion of policy.  There is an affirmative action board here if you would like to discuss affirmative action, though, if you'll accept more unsolicited advice, I think it probably doesn't make sense to focus on the successes and failures of individual applicants there either.

I am in the process of preparing my application for law school.
3.1gpa 176lsat black female - graduated in 3yrs
My single mother had to have several treatments for cancer and I worked full time to support our family.
First Generation high school and college graduate
President of Student Body for 2yrs
2 Sport Varsity Athlete
3 Yrs work experience

I know that there is a very slim chance of me getting into Yale but it is my dream school. Small class sizes, philosophical approach, beautiful campus, and lots of job prospects. What can I do to make myself a better candidate for admissions?

Yeah it's going to be difficult with the GPA.  Your only hope is the essays...work long and hard on them.  Make them unforgettable.  None of that mundane "why I want to be a lawyer" ish (unless it's the end of a very vivid story).  Perhaps with the right essays, you can skip faculty review--that's your best option.  Otherwise, you have to convince three profs to collectively give you an 11 or 12...

Assistant Teacher for 2yrs and now I am a certified Teacher at a urban charter school.

 I am a terrible writer so I will have to hire someone to help me critique / edit

People on here are usually pretty good about reading essays and offering advice, so perhaps try that first before spending money.

What top school would I likely receive the most money from?
What top school is most comparable with Yale?

You'll probably get money at CCN.  More money at MVP.  For public interest, look at NYU.
