Not to freak everyone out, but I just got my waitlist letter today.  Not trying to be arrogant, but I can't help but say I was a little surprised.  (I don't know whether to feel cheated by NYU or exceptionally grateful for Columbia - which of course I do feel grateful for regardless!)  In any case, it's a good thing I fell in love with Columbia while I was there or I would be totally bummed ;D

based on xoxo and LSN, it looks like NYU sent out a bunch of rejections and waitlists recently.

Wow, there's no reason you should have been waitlisted, but you may very well be better off at Columbia anyway.

Wow, I'm sorry, that's so bizarre.  Okay, I officially don't understand this process.
UVa it is!

Ouch. You're almost definitely on a preferred slot on the waitlist, though. So, if NYU is your top choice, I'd put money on you getting in.

I'm guessing Harvard, Yale, NYU were all because you're a music major and applied in january in the case of NYU. Though still quite surprising about NYU.

I don't know whether being a music major would help or hurt. If they're truly going after diversity in all respects...

Well, I actually applied in December...just didn't go complete until January.  As for music....who knows.  I don't regret my major and it wasn't easy, but if that makes them like me less, so be it.  I honestly think it has something to do with my less than prestigious unknown little college.
