OTOH, I have two friends (for those counting, yes, I have WAY too many lawyer friends) who went to South Texas and are now doing very well as partners in law firms in Houston.  Bastards...

Guess it's bad news for me too, no email and changed to decision.  Is there any hope left??  Do they change to decision when they wait list??  Not that the wait list offers much hope, but there's a chance at least!

So my status changed to Decision mailed today, and I have not recieved the "youre accepted" email....so that can only mean one thing....rejected...or functionally rejected (WL)!!!

I actually had to double check for a second there...you see I've had two jaw surgeries in the past 7 weeks, and as a result my bottom lip still has no feeling, so I have actually been known to drool without notice    That's the truthful response...the funnier response would have been to say "that's not drool" but I'm not that kinda guy 

...it would have been even funnier if you'd said, "See how well I type with one hand?"

thanks tex  i have no idea, i just noticed some other people commenting that they recieved emails...and i dont think a law school would send some people emails and not others...i could see them giving really exciting applicants phone calls, but not emails...what do yall think??

I believe you still have a shot until they say you don't. All you know now is that you are a borderline for them...and you kind of thought that going in...so what's changed?

I think you're still in. I think they only emailed people that they pursued to apply. The same lady who urged me with a fee waiver and asked a couple of times if I had any questions was also the same lady who emailed me to tell me I was in. It was actually a pretty personal email. The mass "Here's the admitted students webpage" email didn't come until 2 weeks later or so. Don't give up hope. I think you're in!

Auburnchick...don't worry, I got my accepted email a couple of days after the acceptance letter arrived at my permanent address.

A number of people that got accepted at Texas didn't get the "acceptance email" even though that seems like standard procedure at Texas. Maybe its public TX school system process or something. In any event, I am fully confident that you are not going to receive a rejection and in the very worse, a wait list. If you do get a waitlist, send a letter of intent letter, any optional essays, a summary of a senior thesis or paper (if you did one), get additional LORs in, anything! A school waitlists you because they want to wait for other applications, try to yield protect, or are rather undecided about your application. If its the latter of the three, then it would really benefit you to address these concerns and give the final nudge to push you from WL to Admit. For some reason, Houston's WL cutoff seems to be at 158. In my opinion, Houston might be getting a little too over-confident about future applicants and eventual enrollment of its current admits OR are being overtly cautious with its acceptance rate this year. In years past, Houston rarely waitlisted and did so at the end of the admissions process. They might want to "test" the WL out and see how it works.

Good luck with Houston and your other applications, not to pat myself on the back or anything, but I have been generally right about other's admit predictions (Ellie, Eliza, and others), and I have a good feeling about your application (regardless if you are initially WLed in the beginning). BTW, why didn't you apply to Baylor and SMU? Looking at your other applications, I would figure that you would at least apply to those two since the schools are about the same rank and in the same general region of the country.

Thanks for the encouragement.  I really hope that's the case with houston.  The reason I didn't apply to those other schools is that my decision for houston was really last minute..I visted houston over thanksgiving and really liked the area, so i decided to drop in a few apps there!
