anyone tried $$$ negotiation?
« on: February 04, 2005, 01:17:17 PM »
I was offered 45k at NU and would love to show this to GULC as a way to push them to offer me something similar.  Anyone tried this yet?  Any advice?

if a/o could get $$ out of g'town (i've heard they're pretty stingy) i'd think it would be you.  if i recall correctly you want to stay in the area.  i would call first and then, if not settled, write a formal letter, both times saying a)i love g'town and i want to be in the dc area, but i have $45k offers from both NU (as prestigious etc...) and GW (great school, in the area) and those are very tough to turn down for no $$ to go to gtown.

that's as good a reason as it gets, IMO, for a school to consider offering a person money. and, of course, i dont think there is any loss in trying.
